If you see a snake that is injured:
- Cordon off the area – Remember to keep a safe distance from the snake because it may feel threatened
- Provide shelter from the sun where possible – Snakes are susceptible to heat exposure if their injuries do not allow them to move out of the direct sun
- Keep children and pets away from the injured animal – Dogs and cats may be curious or aggressive towards snakes
- Watch it from a safe vantage point – Ideally watch it from an elevated platform
- Contact a qualified person to remove the snake – If possible have somebody other than the designated ‘snake spotter’ make the phone call
